A commissioned painting to convey a young woman's journey from grief to grace. A sort of self-portrait telling the story of going from darkness, brokenness, confusion and chaos and into the light of grace, growth and a hopeful future. All the while, the support of her community upholding and surrounding her.
I was given inspiration for the theme through Kate Havnevik's song, "Grace" — "…Fill this empty space...Turn my grief to grace…I feel the cold loneliness unfold…" — and through the hymn "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" — "…Tune my heart to sing thy grace…Bind my wandering heart to Thee; Prone to wander, Lord I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it; Seal it for Thy courts above." With these lyrics and through our conversations, I felt fortunate to be entrusted with this woman's story — to portray it with colors she loved and a composition that fit the theme.
Acrylic on canvas : 18" x 36"

I love this! I am constantly amazed by your creativity and think how lucky the woman must feel to have you capture her story!... I'm glad to see you sketching and painting again. It gives me hope for my future with a little girl and baby boy of my own! xo,t
